Mental Health in College: My Story of Finding Balance

From the outside, I looked like the model student. Deans List, leadership positions, research assistant. What nobody saw were the panic attacks before exams.

Getting Help Was Hard

The hardest part was admitting I needed support. I had internalized the idea that seeking help meant weakness.

My First Steps

  • Campus Counseling: Free therapy sessions helped me understand my patterns
  • Talking to Professors: Most responded with compassion
  • Reducing My Load: I dropped one class and resigned from a committee
  • Medication: Working with a psychiatrist, I found stability
  • To Students Who Are Struggling
